Organizer: European Cultural Foundation EUROPAMUSICALE (on the occasion of the anniversary "15 years EUROPAMUSICALE")
In cooperation with the Bavarian National Museum and Munich Airport (25 years Munich Airport)

The first Summer Receiption Event of Bavarian cultural artists from all sectors will be held in Munich on the initiative of the European Cultural Foundation EUROPAMUSICALE on the occasion of the anniversary 15 years EUROPAMUSICALE and 25 years Munich Airport. In addition to the board of EUROPAMUSICALE, the Director General of the Bavarian National Museum, Dr. Renate Eikelmann, and the Chief Executive Officer of Munich Airport, Dr. Michael Kerkloh, are the hosts.

The Summer Receiption
is intended to create a network and a meeting place for all areas of the creative cult scene in Bavaria, in the unique surroundings of the Bavarian National Museum. We are convinced that this will create a prerequisite for new cultural impulses. In future, the Summer Receiption will be a sign of open encounters across European borders. Next year we intend to organize it as a European network meeting. This year's opening event takes place on the Bavarian level.

The European Cultural Foundation EUROPAMUSICALE is mourning her long-time member of the Foundation Board Dr. Johann Georg Prince of Hohenzollern.

With Prince of Hohenzollern the European cultural landscape and Bayern Munich loses a passionate and highly committed promoter of European cultural diversity and of young artists. For the Prince the promotion of talented young musicians meant an "investment in the future", as he so often emphasized in his speeches. Music plays an important role in the House of Hohenzollern.

Since the establishment of the European Cultural Foundation EUROPAMUSICALE in 2002 with the aim to reflect the diversity of the musical creation of the European countries and to obtain it, Prince of Hohenzollern was member of the board  until last. His extensive education, its origin and its wisdom made the Prince an indispensable advisor in all matters of culture.

Prince of Hohenzollern, who died in the night of 02 March 2016, accompanied the European Cultural Foundation EUROPAMUSICALE by his voluntary work in the Foundation for 14 years with great dedication and groundbreaking advice. All committee members and staff thank him for the many years of support and will retain his tireless commitment to the culture in grateful remembrance.

European Music Festival EUROPAMUSICALE
"Musica Sacra"

European Contributions to Religious Music since 1500

The Musica Sacra festival aims to illustrate the development of religious music in Europe after the Council of Constance in the year 1414 and its influences on later works of art all the way up to contemporary music. In addition to religious content within the church music, Musica Sacra endeavours to bring attention to religious music as a source of European identity, Europe’s cultural tradition and as an expression of European values.

Major progress was made in the development of the musical tradition in terms of professionalisation, institutionalisation and differentiation in the noblemen’s courts and city centres during the course of the 14th century. From an historical point of view, the congression of singers and musicians attending earls, dignitaries of the church and wealthy bankers in Constance in the year 1414 had a catalytic effect on music. The result was an “emancipation of European music”.
